Partly better streamlining? In the '50s, it was called a "California Rake" & was in response to what the low riders were doing I think.

Like most "modifications" I think you will find it has little to do with any rational reasons.

this is my s10, hell i hate putting pics of this up after porsches and the like, but it is fully bagged, has a 350ci small block in it with a standard trans. Now who can say they can roast the tire while the frame sits on the ground?

It certainly is a work in progress, and isnt much for the camera at the moment, but someday.
