Thought I'd post this to see if anyone else has had a similar issue. A week or so ago, I used my D60 to take 2 macro shots of a butterfly - the battery was low, but it took both shots, and displayed both the first and second image before the battery died. I was pretty annoyed when I charged the batteries (I have the grip for the D60) and plugged the camera into the PC for neither image to be on the card. Said card works fine - I tested it afterwards and it took a shot and put it on the card correctly.

I would have expected, since it showed the first image on the LCD screen, that it would have had enough power to transfer it to the card. Was I expecting too much, or was it just 'one of those things'?

Probably, but it makes me amazed that it had the energy to still display on LCD screen, but not to write to the card. My understanding is that the buffer on Canons will write the image to the card before displaying the next image on screen - providing your not shooting a huge burst, and are not using a very slow memory card etc. Since I'd only just taken one shot, in single shot mode, I would have expected the D60's buffer to start writing it immediately to the card. Especially since there was 4 seconds between the first and the 2nd shot ;)

I had this happen on my 5D once, they showed up on screen and I thought I had had them , I even fliped through them on camera to see what I had got and they were there then. But ,I never got the images back, although I will say that I did not try very hard.

That's exactly what happened to me. It's not a huge deal, lost 2 images of a Butterfly, they weren't great images, but would have been nice for my 'collection' so to speak. I should probably make Canon earn their money and send a support email off to them ;)

Thanks for replying.

Dave, have you tried any of the recovery programs on the card?

Another thing I noticed too was that after I took the card out and unloaded the images on to my computer I realised they were not there so I stuck it back in the camera and flipped through the pics again and they were showing up on the camera, so I tried to download them again onto my PC ,but they were no where to be seen. I have no idea what happened and at that stage I did not really feel like going after them so chalked it up to a loss.

Tried the card via a card reader, nada. Didn't bother trying to rescue images off the card, I simply accepted that they weren't there. If they were critical images, I'd have tried the software route, probably will little luck I suspect.
