I was at about the same place this summer - your shot would have been much more intense had you used a polarizer filter- the colors and detail just don't jump out - this shot could use some pp to get the color to pop

That's a bacterial mat they are absolutely beautiful, I have several shots from Grand Prismatic with the Orange and dark brown and some other shots with the green bacterial mat.

The colors look fine too me. The only thing I would suggest is a bit of Local Contrast (USM @ 20/60/0). Nice job.
