Potcakes are now recognized as a breed (Royal Bahamian Potcake to be exact) and got their name from being strays who were thrown the left overs from the peas and rice pot when the family had finished eating. They make the most wonderful, loyal companions. In September our 12 yr old Potcake, Nikita, passed away. She left a huge void in our lives, and I was delighted when someone showed me a stray mother with her 7 pups living right around the corner from us, under a little wooden shack. the pups were 6 weeks old, flea ridden and anemic. We adopted this one without hesitation:
His name is Bailey. After the drink of course

And the following two photos are of 3 of his sisters (we assume he must have had a different daddy, because he was the only one with his particular colouring - the mother is tan coloured all over :confused
:Comments welcome......hope you enjoy the photos.
