This is great!

Jay: That's a mighty fine looking Waco for sure.

I wanted to see how a pure 1:2 ratio crop fit this Goshawk. What do you think?

a bit tight, but OK. Try going back, rotate the Goshawk about 30 degrees nose up, then crop. Just for fun.

The attitude actually looks pretty good. The students in the T-45s tend to fly base to final in a more noticeable nose down attitude than the fleet Hornet drivers.

Pretty sure "Cabin Door: Secured" is on the checklist somewhere...

When training for my Private license, my IP taught me to pop the door open (at about 50 ft AGL) when practicing forced (emergency) landings to aid in our quick (simulated) egress from the aircraft.

We always just simulated it but same drill here.

Then there was the time my instructor pulled the fuel shutoff valve on me during steep turns... That got my attention. I got a gold star though because it was the first thing I checked as part of my flow.

He tried it once more a few lessons later but I saw it out of the corner of my eye and I grabbed his wrist so hard it left the impression of his watch band in the skin. "Never, EVER, do that to me again unless you really want me to put this thing down in the desert!"

He never did... ;)

Good on ya Jay!

my instructor likes to take the power right off very early on my downwind leg. My last PFL was very aggressive but clean ;) We have one of the shortest runways in Canada...just under 2000' and it's surrounded by everything haha.

I used to love doing power-off 180s from abeam the numbers. Canyon Reversals are also a gas!

Three for the week... Plenty of new stuff ahead as we enter one of the busiest times of the year in the Southwest! :D
