just learned that i'll be gaining access to a nikon 500 f4 and 600f4, as well as d3 bodies... looking forward to contributing to this thread in earnest soon :D

There's a guy at an airport outside Tucson who is restoring A-4 Skyhawks with a lot of LCD displays in the cockpits replacing steam gauges.

Pretty cool stuff. I guess the weight savings and lighter current draw are significant.

it must be. Alot of the guys out here are all going with new glass instead of replacing the old gauges in the 6 pack. It's apparently cheaper as well?

Probably in the long run, yes. Might cost more initially but "up time" = money not spent!
