Looking for a used crop, have seen some pretty good deals on the 30D's. The 40D's are still a bit spendy. I don't really care about the extra bells and whistles on the 40d, it's the IQ (like high ISO) and AF I'm trying to decide on. Who thinks the IQ and the AF is noticeaby better on the 40D....(and I mean like "wow, this is way better than my 30D" better)..., I owned the 30D, 1DmkII and currently have and love my 5D....Call me crazy but I wasn't floored by the 1DmkII, I shot a couple thousand frames with it to give it a good workout..... it is a great camera and the AF and many other features are awesome but the images I was getting weren't anything like the 5D, so off it went. I've heard mixed reviews on the high ISO performance, but for the most part people seem to like them....I loved the 30D, great body...What do you think....would you just get the 40D....or save $400 and get the 30D

Here are some articles I found about the 40D image quality:
http://www.luminous-landscape.com …s/canon-40D-handson.shtml (external link) (this one is a full review, you should skip to the IQ part and also an update near the end)
http://wyofoto.com …quality/40D_shootout.html (external link)

I currently have the 30D and purchased the 40D as a replacement just because I considered ~$250 a worthy cost for an upgrade and am not considering upgrading to the full frame anytime soon. Regardless, you and I know the 30D is a great camera. Since you have a 5D, I would get the 30D assuming this is going to be a backup body for you.

I have a Cannon with me at all times. You can't take the shot if you don't have something with which to shoot.

If it's just a backup...I'd say save the money.

Since you like the 5D so much, why not get a 2nd 5D. :);)
