Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew a forum even somewhat similar to this one for Canon video cameras, or anywhere that sells used ones cheap. All I can find are factory refurbs of the new, expensive stuff. I don't mind a discontinued model, and I just want something cheap for some home videography.

Any help is greatly appreciated! (Including whether or not this is the proper place to ask....)

Cheers!

Henry

Depends on how you define "Pro" ... Their broadcast equipment will set you back anywhere from $40,000 to $150,000 but I don't think you want a Super SloMo system just to shoot the kids in the backyard do you? <gg>

If you're looking for an XL1 or similar, try the used equipment sections at B&H or Adorama. You can sometimes catch a good price with an "open box" deal as well.

Oh, hell no. By pro, I mean prosumer... Like, GL2.

LOL...

Guess since I work in Sports TV, the word "Pro" has a much higher price tag to me...

Good Luck with your search...

GL2 seems overkill for home vids unless you wanna be referred to as the "big penis" of the neighborhood. But if you're hell bent on one, Buydig.com has it for under 2K: http://www.buydig.com …ampaign=CNVGL2&sku=CNVGL2 (external link)

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

I had the GL2 and loved it.......I sold it for more photo equipment. It was a bit overkill for the norm.....I now carry a compact sony with me insted of the GL2.

Thanks a lot! Yeah, it may be overkill, but I actually do want to get involved in film. some ideas can't be conveyed through still photography, and it would be bitchin' to be the one with the GL2 at my school; my friend who I inherited photography from made some nice money taping a couple weddings.

If you need to shoot motion, I would consider sony.

One of the wedding videographers I know complained about canon's autofocus system for video. He ended up selling his canons and getting sonys.

I prefer panasonic to canon in video actually, but I only used their white cams - GL1 and XL1. Being consistent with the canon color, I can say that they're the digital rebels of the video world.

I'd suggest a DVX 100A/B or if you can afford it a Canon XH-A1.

I shoot plenty of weddings with both, the DVX is a great value for the price (about the same as a GL2 IIRC).
