Need help deciding what lenses to buy!!

HI, I need some advice on lenses.There's so many! I have a 30D that I wish to use photographing babies and children in natural light.With a budget for two nice lenses, what would you pros out there choose?Thanks so much!!:lol:

As always, it depends--but given that criteria I would say either the Canon 50 f/1.4 or Canon 85 f/1.8 depending on your usual working distance and how tight you like your shots.

I just bought the Canon 24-70 L f/2.8 and LOVE it. I do all children, babies, maternity and family portraiture.

Prior to that, I was using the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 90-95% of the time.

For a prime, I LOVE my 50mm f/1.4.

Do you have a budget? Do you own a hot-shoe flash? I know you said available light, but bounced flash with a fast prime looks really good as well, and can be made to look like window light...

I was told not to use flash to baby's eyes.

But back to subject, to my opinion, you definately need longer reach zoom for children (they move around fast) and largest apeture possible for natural light in case of low light.

1. sigma 24-70mm f/2.8
2. tamron 28-75mm f/2.8
3. canon 24-70mm f/2.8
