For low lighting exposures, I usually do Manual, colors vivid, white balance - tungsten or flourescent (depends on lighting), iso 400 (that is because I don't like the noise). If you don't mind the noise turn the iso to high. Like people said this camera isn't really meant for something like this, unless its a small concert and your up close.

This camera wasn't really designed for this kind of thing.. even dSLRs often have trouble nailing it without resorting to high ISOs and a 'fast' (high maximum aperture) lens. Col | Flickr

Set for that anyhow, rather than fluorescent or Auto unless you know there are fluorescent lights. In any case, if the lights are gelled, white balance will go crazy trying to adjust for the gelled lights, so you want a set WB which will let the colours come through. Jon
