Thanks Tony. I'll check that but I'm sure when I convert fom RAW to TIFF the TIFF is in sRGB. I do my edits. When I create my proof from my (sRGB) TIFF I either 'Save As" a jpg or 'Save for Web' (which creates a jpg). Both jpgs have a magenta color cast. I will double check by looking at the color space of the jpg. I've talked to dozens of people and I can't figure this out.

Jeni,
I hope you get to the root of the problem! Have you checked Edit/Color Settings to examine how PS sets and manages the color spaces? Between that and the Convert to Profile dialogue there are numerous options that, if they get mixed up can throw your color off.
Printing, if managed by PS, will use an ICC profile for your printer/paper combo and won't behave in the same way as a jpeg saved for viewing. So, for the printing, PS could be in the AdobeRGB or ProPhoto RGB and it should print just fine (if your printer manages the color, the results might not be so good in those instances). So to print to your managed printer, you don't need to convert to sRGB.
One thing you can do in your Color Settings dialogue: set your Working Space to whatever you are comfortable with (sRGB to start with) then in your Color Management Policies for RGB select Convert to working RGB, then check the boxes to turn on Asking: this will keep you aware of what is happening when your opening your file initially and, if it's not what you think it should be, give you a heads up.
I hope I'm not just telling you stuff you already know and adding to your frustrations
! I imagine we've all wrestled with tough problems and are with you!
