Staples paper

I have a project that requires double-sided paper, and normally I would use Epson double-sided matte paper (with my R1800). However, it is not available locally, and it is out of stock at B&H. In my local search I saw that Staples has a double-sided matte paper under its own brand. It is on sale at a great price, but I am concerned about color management. I cannot find any ICC profiles for any Staples brand papers. Does anyone have any experience with Staples papers, or know if profiles are available anywhere?

While the paper you mention may not have a "generic" profile available. Its not a big problem having your own done for you. Having your own takes care of any differences between the manufacturers "standard" for, lets say, their printer and your particular example of the same model with its own odd quirks.

I understand that a Company that goes by the name of "Cathys Profiles" is popular in the US, and there must be many more. I use a company based in Wales for my own use here in the UK. The last time I needed a profile it cost around £20, so they are not expensive.

Also, the life span rating by Wilhelm Research on papers branded by Staples, Office Max etc.. is usually just terrible. Most of the time it's months instead of years before fading occurs.
