Received my new battery from Sterlingtek today, I was a little surprised to see that the battery for my 5D is made in China, didn't see that one coming, for some reason I thought Sterlingtek was putting out products they contracted to have built and not just a China import.

I'm definitely not generally a fan of things made in China, but the actual Li-ion cells are made in Japan, so I'm not concerned about the quality.

Sterlingtek is a very good company. I've bought tons of extra batteries from them.

I bought a few Sterlingtek recently after lots many suggestions to do so. I found them to be almost identical to any other knock off made in china brand---but a few $$ more.

That is the reason they are inexpensive, if you wanted one made in Japan you could have paid for the Canon OEM.:D

I was surprised that my 430EX has "Made in China" on it, but its still a good product. Just because its made in China doesn't mean its junk, just most of the cheap stuff we buy is junk, so we assume it all is.
