Kingfisher should read Chameleon ! it never ceases to amaze me just how many colours this bird can reflect. Full sun which makes a change for this country, usual hiding place was flooded so the options were to camp out on the mud or go home, i chose the first, which i don`t recommend as after a short while everthing sarted to sink including me ! First shot taken from about 25`... 30% crop, second one at 15`....100% crop, not the best, but shows the different colours and was better than nothing ! next time the ground will be dry and Fred will pose in the right direction.......i wish !

That 1st photo is amazing, you should be very proud to capture such a beautiful and timid bird.

Great captures Carlton, the 1st is superb. :)

I nearly went down yesterday but a mountain of paper work stopped me :(

Still only the one male then. So much for there being two pairs on the pool!

Thanks for the comments guys much appreciated.
Phil, i`ve not seen the female since August, her territory could be close i suppose, but two pairs no chance, i`ll keep looking though !
