The Blue Footed Booby is a great shot! Do you use any type of protection for your gear while shooting from a dinghy to protect from sea spray or rouge waves?

Cheers guys, the Galapagos is a place to have on your list if you do shoot birds. It was on my list since I was five but I had to wait nearly 30 years to get there :) having a camera was a bonus!

I don't have any specific protection, I of course covered the lens with a Hoya pro UV filter and the lens hood. The camera and lenses were wiped after every trip, be it on land or sea, out with a damp (fresh water) cloth.

I stumbled on this little jewel several years ago and now I use it once a week, since I have gotten into the habit of cleaning and inspecting my gear every Friday night. Go to the Sports Department of any Walmart and buy a couple sealed packs of "Gun and Reel" cloths. They are like $3 each. They are microfiber cloths inpregnated with Silicone. Use them on the camera body and lens barrels to wipe everything down. Do not use them on the lens glass though. They clean and leave a slight film of silicone on the lens barrels and camera bodies, which repels dirt and water. It's not enough to feel, and it makes the leather parts on the Canon bodies like brand new again. Your going to love it, and so will your camera. ;)

I will bear them in mind thanks for the tip, not sure they sell them in Europe though, but I will look out for them.
