I am in the trial period for the new Zenfolio Premium version. I'm wondering from those more experienced with this sort of thing what you think?

I'm interested in having a way to sell pictures directly but I can't justify a huge expense at this point.

I like that they work through Mpix and I ordered through them to see how it works and it worked great.

I don't like that you have to pay $3 to have your net profits sent to you - I wrote and asked if they would have a direct deposit option and they said they likely would but never answered my inquiry about how soon they would have this.

I have been with Zenfolio since apr. with a pro account. They have always followed through. I would suggest taking the premium option and passing the percentages on to your clients. It will be much more convenient for them.

I love my zenfolio and am getting ready to upgrade to the Pro. I think the Pro account is a great deal for the price! I do have a ? though. What is digital download?

Pretty sure digital download is allowing your clients to download a hi res version of an image file for a fee.

I now have the free trial.

I seem to like it very much.

I wonder how big i should make my files before I upload them.
Soi far 200 photos took 1 hour on DSL to upload is that normal?

Your upload speed will depend on the size of the image and the size of your upload bandwidth. Personally I upload full size images so people have the most options.

My connection at this point is quite slow (because of where I live) so I upload images that are 800 pix on the longest side. That means I can't reasonably use the labs that Zenfolio provides. If you upload full sized images, make sure your access is set so that your clients can only access what you wish.

Yea my connection is slow as well at my house, but fortunately I can just go use the college computers and it really seems to upload fast.

At my house- 4 gigs of pics takes about 6 hours
At college- 35minutes to 55minutes depending on if anything else is open or not

Zenfolio for the win, not just for the upload speed but also for all the wonderful features if gives you

I just upgraded to Zenfolio Premium, and currently working on uploading gigs of photos from weddings.

I also used a 10 coupon from this forum, so 70 bucks for all year with Zen.
Not bad I dont think.

I'm very happy with zenfolio pro features as they are, but would certainly like the digital download option. From another post it appears as though it will be coming.
On a price comparison I think Zen is superior. In my opinion its galleries look better then the competition and provides great flexibility to organize and allow access to your images. In the upcoming updates they will likely allow for more customization etc.
Smugmug and EM have slightly more features at the moment, but for my use Zen fits my needs nicely.
I upload full rez images which can take a bit of time, but thats a result of my connection speed. In they end I get an excellent backup, off-site source for many images, can apply a watermark, good image protection, and sell prints through two good photo labs. Totally worth the $80 or less with discounts...

Is anyone having issues saving a price list. I create the price list but when I hit save nothing happens. I'm sure it is something with my PC and have opened a case with Zenfolio, I'll let the group know what I find out.

i just got a premium account and i had the same thing happen.

here is how you need to do it so it apply. once you set a price list. go to your home page and click on the folder you want to set a price list to it. once it's open you need to go to the print ordering (on the right) and click "edit" and there you can enable your price set. you can set as may price list you want to different folder or picture.

and for the ones of you that want to get an account with Zenfolio, you can use this code P58-GV4-XNZ to save you $5...
