Hi,

I did did an Engagement Session for Stephanie and Thomas this morning in Huntsman Wood County Park, Fairfax, VA. The lighting was wonderful, the couple is beautiful, and the fall foliage is spectactular! Constructive C&C are always welcomed.

Thanks,

Jim,
The colors and composition are great on all four, with the last being my favorite.

1. I like it, but it could have used a bit more light on them and a wider F stop to blur the background and make them pop a bit more.

2. Is a cool shot, but by its small size is difficult to tell if it is tack sharp. If it is, excellent.

3. The slide shot is lot of fun, but again doesn't look completely focused.

4. Is just perfect in my book.

You continue to show great improvement in your work. Keep it up.

Mark, thanks for your comments and more importantly your encouragement...all photos are tack sharp in full size...I used either my 24-70MM or my 85MM on all the shots today...must be the compression. On the fence shot...I stopped down to keep the run of fence in focus...I wished I had tried a wide open version as well.

I did take many wide open...here is a shot with better bokah.

CDjr4...thanks for the kind words...I like that shot as well.

nice ones Jim! i wouldve added a bit of fill flash on the first two to lessen some of the facial shadows, but these work just fine. :D

Jim, those are just beautiful. If they don't like those, they need their heads examined. And you are so kind. They better think you are brilliant or else I'll have to slap someone! :) Beautiful colors. Just because contrast is an issue sometimes, the last one the face colors are too similar to the background. On my monitor, the last one looks too pink. If you take a bit of red out, see what you get.

Suzie, thank you...you encouragement means a lot to me. I replaced #5 with, hopefully, a better example...what do you think?

These are terrific. I especially like no. 2, 4, and 5. A little fill flash on 5 would have helped, but it's a nice image regardless. I'm sure they'll be happy with them. It's nice to see another "far from 30-something" doing this stuff.

Thanks, Suzie...I do like the "new" 5th photo much better...I have at least 100 good photos from this shoot...I'm sending them a disk next week :)

Thanks for the great feedback :) I have been a memebr of the "far from 30-something" club for a long time now and am very happy to see a fellow member join in :) Photography is my hobby...it is what I do to keep perspective in my life. I am a pro bono photographer and most of my work (less grandkids) is on referral from family and friends. I approach it will all the art and passion I can muster...I don't know where I would be without it :D

Another pro bono here and that's why we get along so well. But Jim, pretty soon you're not going to be considered an amateur with those great pics. ;)

All great pics, but I would probably not use the one where he is leaning away from her... might mess with someone subliminally, lol.
