I thought the idea was to get something then give something. Cannot tell what is going on here. Or maybe it is supposed to be a free for all.

And here I thought the spirit of Christmas was about giving!

This year there seems to be no clear consesnus about how this is suppost to work, but let me share my idea of how I think it should work.

The OP starts the thread and gives away an item.
If someone wishes to receive that item they MUST also give away an item.
If someone wishes to give something away without receivng anything, either at the time of the give away OR EVER, then I see no harm in that. Perhaps some people are hanging on to their items because they do not see anything they want in return.
You must give away at least as many items as you receive.
The items you offer should also include shipping. So mention the locations you are willing to ship. If someone outside that area wishes to recieve your items I see no harm in asking for a little help in shipping costs (I spent $40 shipping items this year and I asked for some money to ship an item to Canada. The member was very understanding). If the member receiving the item offers to pay shipping it is your choice of whether or not to accept it.
You should not offer an item with a demand for a certain item in return. But a request for a particular item is OK. Something like "I have ____ available and if someone is giving away ____ I would love to get it" is fine.

This is a wonderful thing in which to participate. But please remember that it is voluntary. Don't whine or complain because you did not receive an item or because nobody is giving away what you want. Also remember that this is a busy time of year for many of us so if you do not hear back from someone, relax!

I hope this helps to clear up some of the issues. Have a great day!

OK folks I have a list of things that I am willing to give away, but I will not be able to ship them until next week most likely.

I have the following (only one item per person please).

Photoshop 6 book gone to latigid
2 small (maybe 24"-30") white shoot through umbrellas (1 gone to PhotosGuy, 1 gone to Nortelbert)
Reversing ring (IIRC it is a 58 to 52) gone to 4x4rock
Step Down ring (77mm to 67mm) gone to winkie

I might have more, but I will need to check.

All items are now accounted for.

Thanks In2Photos, I added your "clarification" post to the first post... Very well said!

PNY Compact Flash – 128 MB
MMC/SD – 16 MB
Belkin flash drive – 64 MB

ALL ABOVE CLAIMED FOR!

On the contrary. I would love the 128MB flash. Perfect for a digital photo frame. At around 100KB per image I can store about 1000 shots on it.

I have a couple of things.

Menon Hand Strap... I added some padding to this so it is much more comfortable. You can see it at dealextreme.com. I bought this so that I could see if I like having a hand strap before buying a Camdapter, I love it, so now this is going away because I am getting the Camdapter for Christmas. GONE TO cfpackerfan!!! Enjoy!

I also have a 55mm Hoya Skylight filter, I do not know if it is multi coated or anything, it came on one of the lenses that came with my $90 30yo minolta that I got at a pawn shop for my first class. No scratches or anything, a little dust but overall in good condition.

I can ship both of these in the US, I don't have a case for the filter, so I will do my best to make sure it doesn't get damaged in shipping.

PS. I could really use a 52mm rubber lens hood if anyone has one lying around. Happy Holidays!

Awesome!

I'm still doing some searching through my gear (and in my storage room, lol) I've got unused stuff hiding everywhere. Stay tuned.

Ok. I have a Canon Rebel K2. (film) (external link) I used it for my first year photography course, then got an Elan for my second year.
So it's slightly used, comes lensless, strapless (), slightly dusty, and has my name engraved into the top on the left side of the flash. (which I will scratch out before mailing).

GONE to layston
