I wanna buy a Dell Vostro 1500 notebook. It has got nice price with instant saving: http://configure.us.dell.com …300&l=en&oc=bqdwkxr&s=bsd (external link)

But as I see when i try to buy, this price is only for business person (they ask Company Name, etc.). And I'm not.

How can I buy it?

Call them on the phone - it may or may not be a glitch with their site. They periodically have problems; you lose nothing by asking. Good luck, and welcome to the forum. - Stu

Nah, it's really that way. The savings are for businesses. I have a regular preferred account, and a small business account. That way I get all the savings. ;-)a

^I need to set one up because the occasional Froogle brings up Dell Business prices and they are some nice prices sometimes.

So long as you have an actual business (they check) with a real tax id #, you're good. I've gotten some great deals on things through that.

I found out about all that great stuff next year from my aunt. Right now is too hectic. I kinda figured you couldn't just sign up.

Funny, I was going to say that they do NOT check. I have signed up with two accounts, and neither time have I included a federal ID number. And, I do not believe that I ever gave them an SS number either. When I signed up, they were both optional.

Now I actually do have a federal ID number, but I never give anymore information than I have to, so I did not include it since it wans an optional field. So, I do now know for sure whether they check or not.

The other reason I believe that they do not check it that you could have a REALLY small business. If I remember correctly, if you make $600 or less, you do not have to claim it on your taxes. Could be wrong about that though. But if it is true, you own a business, but not a federal ID number. I also think that 1099 employees do not have a federal ID number, but can still itemize there deductions and should be able to classify a business when it comes to purchasing from Dell. Mind you, I am not an accountant, so I could also be WAY off base as well.

You are allowed to sign up for an account in their Small Business part of their site as a self-proprietor. The Tax ID will be your SSN and the company name you can just put down your name or a DBA (doing-business-as).
