Can't decide which lens: 28 1.8, 50 1.4, 85 1.8, or 100 2.0

30 F1.4 and either 85 F1.8 or 100 F2. I use the 30 and 100 on my small sensor bod.

Three good crop-camera choices among affordable primes:

Sigma 30/1.4
Canon 50/1.4
Canon 100/2

Tim S. ---> Canon bodies; Canon zooms and primes; C/Y Zeiss primes and zoom; Leica macro; Rokinon primes

Well... I just ordered the Siggy 30 1.4 & The Canon 85 1.8 from Amazon... I truly hope the Siggy I get is a good copy... I'd hate to go back and forth with Amazon to get one that doesn't have any focusing issues... Wish me luck!!

good luck airbutchie. I know what you mean. I buy mine used, and it was so perfect, that I did not wanna let it go once I upgraded to 5D. Gave all my friends first dibs at it, but they did not want it. so ended up selling it to someone.
If you get a good copy, you will be amazed by the sharpness and focus.

I already have the 85 f/1.8 and it's as good as everyone says it is. But on my 30D it's too long for capturing people and their surroundings, indoors, so I'm going to be ordering the Sigma.
Let us know what you think of it when you get a chance to try it out.

I am not sure exactly what sort of shots you want to get, but from the use you mention I would suggest 50/1.4 and 135L. The 50 could be use for portraits and general shooting at weddings, while the 135L would be good for concerts and tighter shots at wedding.

Getting the 24-70 L could be another option. Wedding photographers' favorite lens!

I debated the same thing for a while.
I only had enough $ to buy either 50/1.4 or 85/1.8.
Then came along someone selling a 35 2.0 which was regarded by a lot of photogs for less than $200.
So, now the 50 is taken out of my list and I will get the 85/1.8.
