I just now this very minute opened my birthday present from my wife. Canon 580 EX II!!! Woohoo!!! What a sweet strobe!! Been "playing" with it for about an hour. It makes my 420EX look like a toy! My question is can I use my 420EX speedlite as a slave and my (brand spankin' new) 580EXII speedlite as a master? I couldn't really get it to work in my brief attempts. I guess if it's not possible I'll just have to go out and get one or two more 580s. Oh well.

Yes.

Take a look at Leo's E-TTL wireless flash tutorials here:

SWEET NIBLETS!!! I just got it to work! Two flashes working together through wireless E-TTL! This is insane! I love this site!

Now I've just got to figure out how to do all these ratios.

I have had the Blue Crane Digital Canon Speedlite 580EX DVD for several months now in anticipation of someday owning a 580EX. I just viewed it for the first time. That is one powerful tool. I had no idea a flash could be so manipulated. Well, I gotta go shoot some stuff!
