Right, because Leopard is oh so stable.

Actually, Leopard is very stable. Now, I'm not saying it's issue-free, of course not. But it's certainly stable... 10.5.1 is out now, so at least some more things have gotten fixed.

I didn't say it was perfect. I just said it was a stable release, which it was and is getting better with the little fixes they are doing now.

The two companies are feeding off each other.

It's just like vehicle manufacturers releasing new models and microsoft vs apple. Microsoft released Vista first to beat Leopard, but Apple was smart and waited until it was more than ready to be released so it was as stable as possible to begin with.

hmm - you mean kinda like xbox and ps3 but the gamble paid off by releasing 360 first early!

if i had the money - i wouldn't even think twice about the others - go straight for canon i say!

I could have expeculated why the 5D has dropped in price couple of months ago. Canon probably knows the Nikon D300 FF is coming out. They want to reach propective buyers to get into Canon side for those who wish for FF body. Just a thought...

I imagine that not only did Canon have an eye on Nikon (of course), but also on the progress of the 1D MkIII "fix". I doubt that they would have released the 1Ds unless the 1D had been hitting the streets with some volume and (hopefully) satisfied customers.

At any rate, these two cameras are amazing and setting new standards. Nikon tries to catch up by outdoing Canon's older technology!
