Im going to be spending 4 days in Italy (Milan and northern Italy)early December.

I kinda want to travel light, im thinking the 1dmkII and 3 lenses. This is the only time I wish I had a nice walk-around zoom like the 24-105 or 24-70. Im not particularly keen on purchasing a lens soon, so thats out of the question.

17-40L will prolly be my walkaround.
Ill skip the 12-24 since I know I will not use it much.

Should I take the 35L or will that be overlap? 135L or Sigma 150? Is the 85L going to be used much?

Tips and advice highly appreciated.

Thanks

I took my 5D with my Tamron 28-75 which did a wonderful job for me.

I am going back in March with only a P&S, however.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

If you don't take the 85L, you'll have a massive gap between 40mm and 135mm, assuming you take the 135L.

3 lenses for what you have, I'd go 17-40, 85L and 135L or 12-24, 17-40 and 85L.

I cant rent anything here.

So far it looks like

17-40 L

85 L

135 L

Im insisting on 135L as opposed to 150 because I really want to capture Italy through the wonderful glass in the 135L barrel.

Should I take the 35L for lowlight situations.

I guess I may need to take 2 bags. The 7 million dollar home crumpler for day time (will fit 5 lenses easily) and possibly a 2 lens bag. I own a lowepro Toploader 75AW that will take 2 medium lenses or a long one and a small one.
Thing is I dont want to look like a tourist with the toploader bag. The crumpler is great because because it looks like a messenger/shoulder bag. Who knows it contains camera equipment worth $9,000.
