Nikon 18-55 with Vr.
Although I'm not sure of the value of this.

A kit lens with VR/IS would sure be a selling point. If they have figured out how to make IS for cheap.

When you went to get your first digital SLR, would this have caused you to go Nikon?

What do you mean first for Nikon?

Canon came out with 18-55 IS a month ago.

I don't think the op means that Nikon have produced the first kit lens with stabalising technology (note how I didn't say IS or VR) but rather that this is Nikon's first kit lens with stabalisation. In other words, "how long has it taken them to catch up?"

I don't think Nikon is as far behind as everyone would love to think.

Edit: welcome, don't mean to challenge your first posting, I'm lying, of course I do :-)

Thanks for the welcome. I don't really see that as a challenge on my first post, because technically that wasn't my opinion. All I was attempting to do was paraphrase what the OP had said as it seemed to be causing a bit of confusion ;)

I guess I'm living in a cave. I didn't see that Canon produced at 18-55 IS.

Someone shoot me. ;)
