I am having problem with lens hoods for 17-55IS and 10-22. They are just too big, too wide. Looks like my camera wont fit anymore. Anyone has to upgrade camera bag just because of lens hoods?

It never went in my bag when I owned it.

When did voluptuous become voluminous?

Unfortunitly, 2 out mine most used lens do require use of hood because of their relatively weak flare resistance. They are 17-55IS and 85f1.8. The 17-55 hood is soooo huge. 5Di, 5Diii, 28, 50, 85, 16-35II, 24-105, 70-200F2.8 IS

The lense hood is only useful to cut down flare for me. So if i shoot outdoor that day i bring the hood. I detach it and put it in plastic bag, attached to my shoulder bag. If the hood breaks due to mishandling i will just get a generic replacement from ebay.

In 15 years amazingly enough i've never broken a lens, but I've also never dropped one. I do use the hood for the sigma 30 in bright sunlight, but thats fairly rare.

I always leave the hoods on all my lenses only time I don't use them is if they get in the way of a very close shot or cause a shadow in the image. They improve virtually every photo I take and offer physical protection, They're an essential to me, and so there's no way I'd not have them with me, I just have a bag(s) that'll take it all.
