In the old days we stored film for safe keeping. As digital scanners improved, the image quality output improved. In other words over time, new technologies improve what is otherwise a unchanging photo.
I have to date kept my raw files in CR2/CRW. I have been considering moving to DNG. As I fear, DNG options in the adobe converter may hinder the improvement as I mentioned above. See the converter can save in mosaic/de-mosaic format. If years ago I choose the de-mosaic format it looks like DXO's technology would not be optimal as it performs algorithms on the original mosaic.
So the question is, is there a safe digital format? Is DNG mosaic (store original mosaic format) the way to go?
