I've just watched a used Canon 10-22mm lens sell for £72 ($149) more than the price of a new one!

I keep seeing used camera bags sell on eBay for nearly the price of a new one, plus one last week that went for the same price as a new one. I'm staggered!

What's the most ridiculous photography-related selling price you've seen lately?

Mike

I don't know about lately but after the Nikon Coolpix 995 ceased production, a copy went for $2000 on ebay.

I've noticed this with the 70-200mm lenses too... Some people just dont have the time to screw around with researching pricing, or they simply are just too dumb!

I think there is good money to be made listing items on there that are new, but lying and saying they are used.

I sold a used Sparco jacket of mine on ebay for more than it sells new. I had zero complaints.

I sold a 75-300 for more than new on ebay. Zero complaints.

I sold frame sliders on ebay. The kid wasn't home to pick them up (military) and left me bad feedback. Bizarre. Sold a radiator once. It was SERIUOSLY packaged. Customs opened it up, marked it as "opened by customs" and gave it to the buyer. Bad feedback. Bought my 1Ds M.kII on ebay. Buyer waited 3 weeks for "check to clear" and I filed a claim with Paypal. Paypal ruled in my favour. Still got bad feedback since the eBay system works that way.

eBay feedback (seller and buyer) and prices mean little to me. Buy with a credit card and buy worry free. Sell? Not so keen on the selling bit.

eBay have started this new Feedback Jury thing, where you get to vote on people's feedback disputes. Hopefully that will get a lot of the unfair negative feedback cleared up, because there are a lot of idiots out there who mess things up for normal people.

Yes, Pierre Omidyar (eBay's founder) is apparently worth $8.5 billion.

Mike-DT6,
My guess on it would be:
A. they aren't aware of the new price? ???
B. they are hung up on winning the bid? ???
C. they never heard of B&H or Canoga? ???
D. All of the above!
