I've been fairly lucky with lens purchases on E-bay, but I do know what my limits are. More than a couple of times, I've noticed a lens creep up closer and closer to the price of a new one. No thanks, I'll buy through B&H or Canoga.

I did get a Tamron 90mm Macro for a steal. Of course it didn't help that the person posting the lens misspelled the name. As it is with everything else, it's buyer beware.

So you got yourself a nice Tarmon 90m Marco then?

I expect the length put a lot of people off. Imagine the postage costs!

Yes, there are a lot of time-wasters on there! I'm only watching UK auctions and referencing them against new prices available in the UK though.

:-)

I have sold stuff on ebay and found a ton of timewasters. I bought stuff on ebay. Some was absolute crap. Some was just cheap stuff that wasn't that great but did the job and which I eventually had to replace anyway.

I've been lucky on eBay so far. One of my friends who sells cars through eBay is often left bewildered and confused by the antics of some buyers!

couple months ago on some other forum someone spelled Tamron as a "Tampon" lens, and of course there were many pages commenting on that misspell :D

I've had people spend more for a lens than it goes for at B&H - and someone who threatened to stop payment if they didn't receive a used bag in excellent condition (that I sold for 1/4 of what it was worth) over the Thanksgiving holiday! They're all out there. It's pretty weird...

I wonder if anyone has messaged him to find out before bidding! He hasn't amended what he wrote, so presumably not!

He's going to get a very good price for his F/4 L!

It's still happening!

I haven't been watching any photography equipment on eBay for about a month, but the first thing I watched this time round (a second hand 400mm f/5.6 L) went for £16 ($31.50) more than you can get them for brand new.

Hahaha! A malformed Cheeto!

I've just looked them up to see what they are. The UK Cheeto-equivalent appears to be the Wotsit!
