MacBook Pro why because it is fast, small, has led backlight(good for outside work), can adress 4gb ram and works just fine. I had doubts big time. but know i am really happy that i have choosen this mashine, instead of a different one.

sadly, adobe isn't supporting ubunto else this would have been my first choice combine with a new dell. But so MBP runs runs and runs.
Just love that feeling to have working equipment on scene. And if you use it just for work it will be different to find a better mashine.
Back in office i can use it with a big screen or do a presentation remotely to costumers over the beamer. I just love it. well since i live in germany i got my 19% sale tax back :)

Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad T61. 14" widescreen. I love it because the build quality is top notch bar none. It is darn tough and well put together. My dell Latitude D800 was crap in comparison. Creaks, squeaks, seams that don't line up, weak hinges, crappy touchpad, the works. I didn't even think it was that bad until I tried the Thinkpad series.

Core2 duo 2ghz, 3GB RAM, 120GB hd. Very powerful.

The size is quite small and thinkpads are generally quite thin, so it fits beautifully in small bags.

The bad? The screen viewing angle isn't the greatest. It is just fine for one user, but if two people are looking at the screen at once, the contrast drops off considerably for the person not square to the screen. Nonetheless, it works well for photo processing for me and is super portable and powerful.

My Personal laptop is an older Dell Inspiron 9100. I love the 17" widescreen.

From Work I've had a IBM T41, T42 <- Both underpowered and no where near true enough color for what we do,

Next I got a T60 Core 2 duo and it's AWESOME! Both horsepower and display rock!
I have a T61 core 2 duo waiting for me @ work right now; might grab it tomorrow. I'm interested in how it's widescreen compares against my Dell and the T60

i have long wondered...

how does anyone get consistent editing with a notebook when each and every time you open it the screen is at a different angle and change is there?

for viewing while tethered or field basic checking i can understand but full out editing that i can't grasp.

i bought my daughter a loaded dell i9300 when she graduated high school a few years back and got their top of the line screen and while good i still would go nuts with the changes you see opening to a slightly diferent angle each time.

D700 paired with 24-70 f2.8; 70-200vr f2.8 capped off by B+W MRC fPro UV filters, B+W Kaesemann Circular Polarizers, Manfrotto 055xprob/488rc2. All comfortably carried with Kata R102 backpack... adding as needed :>;) yep sold my canon gear and switched to the dark side :p

Not to mention the constant different surroundings the laptop is (can be) used in.
So, IMO you don't ;)
