Photography related Gift Ideas for a girl you like...

Hi everyone... There is this girl that I really like and I'd like to get her a photography related gift for Christmas. She's fairly new to photography and I actually just sold her my 350D for a very very very low price (I'd give it away as a gift, but I've got bills to pay )

Obviously, if money wasn't a problem, I'd get her some 'L' glass (heck, I'd get some for myself as well) but the world isn't perfect and we don't all drive Benzes, so my budget is set at about $50 - $70

Can you guys suggest anything photography related in that price range? Accessories, books, etc?

Get her favourite photos printed out on pro paper and get them mounted in nice frames.

Don't worry about equipment, just give her the results of what she's shot so she can hang them. It'll be a real boost to her ego.

Oooh... that's a good one. I'll see if she's available to go walk around and shoot this weekend... I'll try get copies of her photos if ever and get them printed out. Thanks!

What lenses does she already have? You could always get her the nifty if she doesn't already have it.

I've asked the husband to buy me a set of Kenko tubes. They're a little more than what you what to spend, but it's not too bad.

Does she have a photo editing software already? If not you can get her Elements. And I've been thinking about buying the software from this link:

If she's new to it, Understanding Exposure would be a good gift, as its easy style lends itself to light Boxing Day reading.

Memory cards are useful but a bit utilitarian (although, back in the day, a girl was so impressed with my thoughtfulness when I provided her with a brand new 4-way power adaptor for her stuff that we went beyond friendship within the hour).

Better would be a "photography day". (so much better than "a date with our cameras"). Take her somewhere you know provides good shooting ops. Make a picnic or buy her lunch. Make a fuss of her. Don't point out her blown highlights or wonky horizons. Make her feel good with the gear.

Thats a good suggestion.

See if you can get her to make herself a redbubble account and put some of her work up there. The quality of their prints is quite good from what ive heard and it could make it a bit easier to get hold of prints.

Inspiring books, learning books can both be wonderful things. I don't think I'd suggest "digital photography for dummies" just yet. Maybe an Ansel Adams book if she's into nature shooting, a glamour book if she's into people shots (again, a book on nudes may be a the wrong choice here). Seeing as you're in Italy, is there a famous photographer from nearby who has a book, or an inspiring book about somewhere nearby?

Thanks for all your suggestions! I think I will give her the nifty fifty. It's within my budget, and it's a good beginner lens. I'll also consider the books you guys mentioned. I've heard about the book Understanding Exposure and if I can get a copy, I'll get her that too.

Since there have been many other good suggestions, those which I would actually gift myself, there is always the possability of getting her a rocket blower....stocking stuffer

Black Ikea 8x10 frames, and a bunch of pictures youve printed out (Costco!). Black and white editing for increased effect

What about your photos of her taking photos?

Maybe a nice filter for one of her favorite lenses...

A star filter is unusual and she might think of you every time she uses it. You could make up something sappy about stealing a star from the sky for her, or something equally as inane. Good luck.

Look into a tutor session (for 2) with a pro shooter.

Or a nice camera bag if she doesn't have one.
