That's a long way out! But quite possibly.

I've just updated more on my blog.

Wow! Did you remove your window to take these shots?! They're so crystal clear and undistorted! ... either that or you fly on aircraft which have very good quality windows :p

Awesome!

There's a trick to all these shots (No HDR or anything like that)
Shot with the 1DIII and 24-105 which was a great multi purpose lens for flying.

Clean the windows. Shoot up against the plastic window. And cover the sides with the blanket, to eliminate reflections

I'd have thought you'd use a 17-40L etc for a wider perspective?

Top advice that. Will have to remember on my travels this year.

Best photo I every took from an aircraft was 4 years ago flying from Mt Isa to Brisbane. Only had my Canon S45 digicam then, but got this sunset:

Byte size: ZERO | Content warning: NOT AN IMAGE

30 minutes later we flew through a thunder storm and severe turbulence - which is not recommended!

Pity you didn't go at sunset as there was a nice one tonight (at least it was in Canterbury!)

I use the 24-105 as it's the only lens on the camera, out of the bag. Always on a window seat, generally passengers sleeping, and would get very annoying to swap over or get by.
24 is pretty wide on a 1D, but the Image Stabilisation helps

1/5th of a second, 65mm, thanks to IS it came out.

And 105mm comes in handy for the tighter crops, and special landmarks below

Nice sunset pic too!

Great work Adam!
When are we catching up.. you're so close! *wonders if there'll be another frozen lake ever again*

Just bought the new Macbook Pro 2.5ghz 250GB. Just transferred my old settings to it last night.

I've also bought a remote firewire 800 harddrive which I will boot from and bought more ram from dabs at 1/4 the price of Apple's ram. I'm just finding my way round at the mo.Trackpad takes a bit of getting used to.

Canon 20D, 7D +grip
16-35 F2.8 MKIIL; 10-22mm f3.5-4.5
18-55 F3.5-F5.6 kit lens, 70-200 F2.8 , L; 50mm F1.8 Kenko extension tubes; 430 Flash
Various filters, Diagonal Haoda focus screen, Canon 1.4 extender

Worth backing up the OS partition as an image to your external hard disk (you can boot from it). I've found it a lifesaver when things go bad... like when I installed a OS security update and my MacBook Pro failed to boot up afterwards.

Saw this thread and thought I'd say, "hi". I'm based down in Deal on the lovely cold Kentish coast. No photos to share as yet mind as I've only had my 400D a few days and still learning what this SLR malarky is about.

Not really, been mostly pointing at things in the garden to get the hang of all the settings of the camera.

Jasmine in my garden:

Cherry tree in my neighbours front garden:

Coming from a Minolta Dimage Xg to a Canon EOS 400D is a fair jump :)
