Welcome...

I think we should share some pics from our local areas/London, to give some encouragement for the rest of us to get out there!

I'll share some pics in a few days, once I've edited the frosty morning shots I did last Friday

Great idea, I'll dig a few out myself. Anyone else got any of some of the South-East's photogenic places?

Welcome, I used to live in Woking and visit Guildford a lot. Is it still as it was 10 years ago?

Ah! Woking. I lived there from 1982 until a couple of years back now with my SO in the Guildford area.

So, ten years back. Well IMO Woking has changed little but they have improved the town side of the station by covering the road with a nice modern (high) canopy that appears to have solar panels all over it but sadly most of the town centre still has a seedy feel about it in comparison to Guildford which IMO has an overall very nice 'feel' to it. However there are plans to demolish the Friary Centre and many of the surrounding buildings in a major redevelopment.

I am sure there are a goodly number of SE POTNers and with that a good chance of many places to meet up. Local to here is Wisley RHS Gardens, Polesden Lacey & other NT places and not forgetting Brooklands the original home of British Motor Racing & Aviation.

:)

Ahh, you're filling my head with many memories. I used to live in Weybridge too, and actually worked in Brooklands.
I know what you mean about Woking town centre though, it never was the shopping centre that the rest of the town deserved.

What did you do at Brooklands? Were you there back when it was a BAe works? If you have not been for a while that whole area has changed a lot in big ways.

I am a "Friend of Brooklands" and took up the free ticket offer for the Centennary Weekend in May this year ~ ticket for one if you marshall the other, it was very good on both days but oh boy was I knĀ£$%^ed.

A couple of images from that weekend

And yes this one is so to speak the right way up ~ a Puma inverted during a roll manouver

Nice shots, Box!! That SLR looks like its going a million miles an hour :D I bet you see loads of them around the Woking area, no?

Nah, I worked for Procter and Gamble, they had their HQ inside the track, I sometimes used to organised conferences in the museum though.

Glad you liked them ~ sadly those SLRs are a little rare but oh boy they did put on a great show at the time. Every time I drive past the McLaren site on the old Mizens Farm (north of Woking towards Ottershaw) I keep thinking I wonder if they have open days for members of the public or heres a thought a visit by a POTN group?

Right, P&G much more recent times then

Although there is a public footpath that passes right in front of the McLaren HQ, and you can see in the big windows. Give it a go.
