Edit: Oh Wazza you poor chap! Were you at the event for the European drift thing? If you were on the list why didn't they let you in?

Yeah, I was there for that.
I emailed them earlier in the year, and they said I could go to any of the events. Had a group email about plans to meet and collect passes, but i missed out.

In NZ, I provided the photography for www.d1nz.com (external link)

gutted man! I've been gagging to go to an Airshow as well.

Yeah should be a good laugh dude :D

RIAT would be great, BUT! It's the week I've booked off on holiday, and I'd rather be in Greece or somewhere nice than at an airshow with massive crowds...
I should prepare for 2009, hit up the magazines I know and get a media pass for better access.

Morning all.

Wow Warren that sounds like you had an action packed day. Its only going to get worse with all the people now driving more and more.

RIAT sounds cool, I wonder if I should make the trip.

 Yeah - action all right! Glad it wasn't a hot day... My car has no air con, so gets incredibly sticky

It was £249 from warehouse express (external link). I've got this head coming (external link) tomorrow along with the relevant plate as well. I don't have a bag for it, just a shoulder strap which seems to work out fine.

I was using the recommended (on this site) 055XPROB with a 488RC4 ball head, but I found that set up too heavy for me to ever really want to carry anywhere. I found the ball head a bit spongy as well and would always creep just a little bit once I stopped supporting the camera. Plus, the combination of the 2 and my camera was a bit too tall for me and I could never see the top faceplate (without looking goofy and standing on my toes

I can't believe how exensive tripods are. I'm very tight with my money - there's so much I would like to buy now, but trying to be realistic. Just now was shopping in Bluewater, and was thinking of buying a Sony LCD... PS3... Oakleys sunglasses... Black leather shoes... Ferrari shoes. Ended up with nothing, :D - and I didn't end up getting the computer racing wheel I ordered, as they ran out of stock.

 I'm sorry for my part in your day of cock-ups! In case enquiring minds want to know... the 100-400L is still a pile of doggy-doo

Haha, no probs. I only happened to google air show dates, after seeing yours. Assumed it was the Cosford show and checked. Figured must be the one, as it's kinda in our area?!

Cadwell wrote in post #5642378 (external link)
So me coming along and bringing the 600 isn't a good idea? ;)

300-800 is more fun

One is better than non :D

Well that can be my excuse for not going then, I do not own a flashgun.

Although I was looking at one of the cheap brands earlier today - they were under $100 on eBay and over £100 from British stores. Which is ridiculous.

you cant miss it really :P

For anyone arriving on the underground that is the exit for Canada Square and the DLR so you would need to follow those signs as there are actually two entrances (not including the ones to the underground malls!).

But there is also another smaller one at the opposite side of the park which it sits under, but with the station design it would be pretty easy to go the wrong way, and once you go through the barriers if you are at the other end you need to go up and through the park.

And my tip of the day, do not take any photos on the platforms as the last time I did that while waiting for a train, as soon as I boarded it I was stopped by undercover officers. Fun times.

Michael.

Comments, bribes, criticism, bribes, irrelevant anecdotes, and bribes always welcome.
EXIF is available inside all my photos, though bribes are still recommended anyway.

Can the photos section of the facebook group be divided into categories? Would be one way of arranging photos from various meets.

There are some better Facebook experts than me on here, someone will tell us.

Can you not just create albums like you can on a personal profile on Facebook? I've never set up a group so I don't know whether or not its basically the same as a personal profile page.

No sense and unfortunately not enough money.

No, all you can do with a group is add photos to that group. There isn't any "create new album" options...

Evening all - Looks like a full house

Cannot separate pictures into different meets on Facebook sadly but I suppose a flickr group might be an idea. I might put mine on Facebook and Deviantart.

Right off to bed, gotta be up again soon. :(

Well thats just bloody silly.
How hard would it be for them to include the option to create new albums?!

Perhaps we should all wear combat jackets for the Canary Wharf exercise Yes/No?

One thing is for sure - with the safety in numbers rule - no one is likely to get mugged for their gear.

Peter - I bet you have found a digital back for your OM1? I've got 2 OM1s and a few lenses - I haven't used them since I went digital when 2.3MPix was the absolute latest in technology.
