I also really need to get some filters. What are your thoughts on Lee versus Cokin?

I've never used Lee filters, so I can't really speak much about them. From what I understand, they're the higher quality of the two systems and obviously with that comes a higher price.

As I don't use my filters on a daily basis I'm quite happy with the Cokin system. It does what I want it to do well enough, without any noticeable (by me anyways) negative effect on the overall sharpness of my photos.

Obviously since I've only used the Cokin stuff I can't make a recommendation between the two, but what I have is certainly good enough for my purposes.

OK, now I'm officially feeling left out. Everyone is getting their new gear delivered, but I'm still waiting for my new lens to show up. I was hoping it would be here in time for Sunday's meet, but it's not looking very likely now. :(

No sense and unfortunately not enough money.

I know that Lee filters have Resin and Glass options, what's the differences with quality/performance? anyone know?

That sucks, where did you order it from (the 35L I assume)? And you never know, still have this afternoon & tomorrow for the delivery to arrive :)

I was going to say that I didn't see any glass filters on their site, but I figured you just knew something I didn't ;)

There's a fairly big thread by rammy discussing the Lee system here. Might be of some use as well.

re: filters. I had Cokin NDs and was disappointed with the purple colour they gave some skies, I sold them off and bough Hi-Tech ones, much nicer and really nice quality.

er??? how are you gonna attach the ND filter to your sony ericsson? i didn't know they make filter holders for that camera nowadays? ;-)a

LOL! I meant my phone arrived and for my 5D, going to go pick up a filter for it. Getting tired of blown out skies.

My 2x 4gb Extreme III's also arrived today. Finally have enough cards to do a days worth of shooting in RAW now. 2gb on a 5D was not cutting it.

Interesting. Came supplied with rescue disc and also a little pouch for 2 cards. Handy.

Yes. No one seemed to stock the ND4 and ND8. Got I got me a Cokin P120 which seems to be a ND1/2.

What I might do is shear off the extra filter holder slots on my holder to try and reduce the vignetting at the wider end. It seems I might need a better filter system for 24mm and wider for the 5D.

Maybe. Have you played around with it yet?

I'm pretty sure I was able to hit 16mm without any vignetting but that's with a 1.3 crop. I could be lying though, I don't remember for sure if I've gone that wide with the filters on.
