Decided to weed out my camera bag and keep the essentials. Its pretty lame at how ALL of this is pretty much essential. No additional lenses are going to be kept in and the 400D is pretty much sold.

This is my minimal gear now. :)

QUOTED IMAGE

You could lose the Ipod - lousy for photography as it doesn't even have a lens OR a CF slot! :)

Well before, it was

- Gripped 400D + 24-70mm
- Gripped 5D + 24-105mm
- EOS 650 + 50mm
- Both Speedlites
- Flash bracket

Now THAT was a pain. Now the 400D has gone, bag is a lot more useable. Doesn't weigh enough to slow me down now. I do have another hard case for long time storage or when im shooting in clubs. Since that is lockable, I can worry less about my gear.

Hook it up to the laptop for additional storage of photos if I run out of room elsewhere. Laptop only has 4GB solid state HDD and 4GB (for now) SD card. Plus stores my music.

Nothing better than walking along firing off rounds with music. :)

Quick question - is a hard or soft edge on an ND Grad filter better?

I like the idea of hard if you shoot very straight horizons where as the soft give you a much more natural gradient so I guess more flexibility which is handy for everyday use from what I have found. I wouldn't mind having one of each.

Hmmm...I guess I'll go for the soft one for now...all this talk of filters has made me buy some on ebay. Off to Provence for 2 weeks at the end of next week so it'll come in useful for that.

Any suggestions for other useful filters?

A ND grad is great for a lot of things. I have a Cokin A filter set which has got some soft focus filters etc. The only funky one I found was the shapes which allows you to create your own bokeh but that can be done anyways.

Maybe a tobacco grad filter to warm up those sunsets perhaps?

I'd go for ND grads, a polariser and thats about it. I would also recommend getting some bellows or one of these flarebuster (external link) (yes I know it looks naff) to stop lens flare as you can't use your hood when you use slot in filters. I would avoid any other coloured filters even warmups as most of it you can do in photoshop.

That is uber funny! Made me giggle although in theory, does prove useful but wonder if the arm is flexible for use in portrait position.

Don't worry, looking at it, not all are affected.

Just had a look at their system. Looks a lot more UWA and FF friendly.

Possibly attracts more comments than my turtle shell Kata 103 bag. The flarebuster can also be used a small reflector I just wish they had made it a tad more street cred.

I don't have Lee filters, just the Lee storage, I'm intrigued to know if the microfibre has any chemicals or such like in it that attacks the surface of filters. But if Lee say its just a small batch of the actual filter that is the problem then I feel a tad better.

That sucks, where did you order it from (the 35L I assume)? And you never know, still have this afternoon & tomorrow for the delivery to arrive :)

Yeah the 35L that I ordered from Kerso. I've been in touch with him today and it seems there was just a bit of confusion over the bank transfer reference and he didn't realise he had received my payment. Its all sorted now though and he posted it today so fingers crossed it'll be here tomorrow or saturday depending how exactly he sent it. :D

No sense and unfortunately not enough money.
