Sorry to steal the spotlight but I just rushed home due to the exploding Vaio issue. Not a good sight to see. Little sister seems to be ok but im not a happy bunny since I know that Vaio are a bunch of a**holes to deal with.

Lil sis seems ok. She is just shook up. Parents will try to claim the damage on house insurance but Vaio have to know.

Cheers doode. Was fun.

Seems like the battery just popped and exploded. Chair caught fire since my mum ran out the room with it. She was not going to hold it so used the chair as a safety measure.

Holy crap - I thought those exploding laptops only happened to a very few people! Maybe not! I hope you contact Sony with your pictures and give them a rollocking. Might be worth posting your shots to a website like Engadget.

I work for Sony  but consumer dept so Vaio is a whole new ballgame hence I am not looking forward to speaking to them.

I will call them in the morning and see what they say. I don't think my family have much trust in Vaio or Sony anymore. I mean who would.

My main laptop pc is a Vaio and I have to admit it does get crazy hot. I think it was last summer I was using it and I heard some cracking... sparks were coming out of the vent and I could see smoke so I yanked out the battery. I'm suprised my motherboard hadn't fried because I'm still using the vaio now!

Will feedback what I find out tomorrow since I have a feeling they will somehow blame me for not VOLUNTEERING for a new battery.

They also manufactured the batteries for IBM (Lenovo) X series laptops which had the same issue, IBM (lenovo) initiated a recall on the batteries and we had to send back a load from our fleet, did Sony not do that?

Out of interest as iv'e not seen it happen do they get hot and smoulder away or just suddenly go bang?

Blimey

I wouldn't be surprised. Usually Sony are very good with their known issues/replacement information but the Vaio aspect is so bleeding poor. If my sister had been sent to hospital or anything like that, then it would have been a different story.

I had to drop her to my cousins house to finish her work. Hope she gets it done. I then need to go pick her up which I hope is soon. If not, another night of no sleep
