Here''s my last post for the night, some quick edits of some of my Provencale photos:

I love market tat and make a point of bringing back something really cheap for a mate of mine! Last year I got him one of these:

IMAGE: http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/2110/provence200816062008111fz5.jpg

I saw this on a walk and woud love some ID assistance - it had a wingspan of about 4-5 feet at a guess and was very graceful:

This is Malemort du Comtat, the village where we stayed:
IMAGE: http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/8022/provence200819062008165dk3.jpg

From a tiny hilltop hamlet called Blauvac:

I can't remember the name of this village but it's just the other side of the mountain in the 3rd photo. We stopped for a drink at the cafe but the lady in there was a bit rude so we left thirsty!

And finally, this is Montbrun le Bain, where we stopped for a much needed ice cream!

Morning Lads

Whatever you read in my favourite rag (Daily Mail) is absolutely gospel truth - I will not have it said otherwise!

I just love the Bluewater story by Wazza - absolutely bloody typical of jumped-up security types. Perhaps they belong to an era of the late 30s - mid 40s and should be given jack boots and black shirts as a badge of authority?

I was walking through a nearby town yesterday morning and there was a female traffic warden - or whatever they call themselves to make their little unimportant little selves feel important - expounding to a friend that she was going to punch someones head in if they upset her. Blimey -I won't be parking on her yellow lines anymore.

I did hear that they are going to form a snatch squad of PCSOs to go round snatching photographers off the street if they are walking around with Canon DSLRs and subject them to a beating - or worse still - make them walk round with a Nik*n round their neck.

Oh well! That's given vent to my feelings this morning I'll just nip out and get my Mail on Sunday and then see if there are a few bugs in the garden who want a macro on the end of a Novoflex bellows poked up their little ****.

Ahh! I seem to have gone off topic so I'll try and find a venue to try my new 70-200 f2.8L IS today sometime. I did get a 77mm circular polarising filter for my 77mm lenses - It seems a bit of a pain to adjust when the lens hood is on.

I really like 5th picture down of the village on the side of the hill. The hills look a bit white. Were they some sort of granite?

Regarding the bird type - Just call it a Pterodactyl's dinner.

The village on the hillside is a great composition. I'm guessing your tweet is a Short-toed Eagle. Looks like a smashing location you were at. I ain't never been down there but everyone who has seems to love it.

I'm at the F1 too that day - will be spying on Neal ;)

Welcome :)

And now for the pathetic.
Was at Bluewater this evening and noticed this young couple taking a close up photo of their baby in pram doing something adorable, as babies do..... Only to literally have some woman security rush over (like almost running) and very forcefully said no photos of babies! WTF?!
The point and shoot camera was like 1 foot away, clearly not taking pics of the mall, or other people, just inside the pram. The young couple were a bit shocked, as expectedc:rolleyes:

1)that is nuts since it's they're choice and are clearly a perfectly average family cooing over a baby...for goodness sake i mean not being funny but its kind of fair enough to be a bit suspicious if someone had a lens as big as any of yours and was ready and waiting to pounce but they had a point and shoot and a push chair! (that probably sounds worse than its meant to it sounded better in my head then i read it!)

2)cool warren coz im normally his photographer who spies on him at brands but i wont be able to be at the F1 will find somethin else to occupy my time...

Neal - I'm jealous - the Vulcan is my fave military aeroplane.

Here's my favourite shot of the day. Taken on Friday in one of the few fields of lavender that is in full bloom - most of the lavender in the area isn't in bloom until late July.

RE: Dover meet, I've been rushed off my feet and as the notice was rather short and only 1 or 2 people could make it I thought it best to reorganise for later in the summer. That and my new toy (Sigma 18-50 f2.8 EX DC Macro) hadn't arrived. But it has now.

Mike, great images of nice picturesque area especially the lavender field with the distant mountainous backdrop.

Edit: I found this site http://www.galleryofbirds.com/raptors.html (external link) and your raptor does look like the Short Toed Eagle as condyk says but have a look at the Bonellis Eagle ~ that I would love to see, that underwing pattern is quite something.

Neal, I am so hoping the Vulcan will be flying when I go to Farnborough on the 18th ??? Must recheck to planned display list. Somewhen, eons ago I had amongst my Airfix models one of the a Vulcan :)

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

I was rather surprised too as it's not usually out like that until late July/early August. It was unseasonably hot though during the last couple of weeks so that may have caused it to bloom early, and I'm glad it did as I'm never in Provence for the full blooming display - much more expensive to visit during that time.

Ooh, a Dover meet - I'm interested. Keep me informed. I might be able to bring along a Noinker too!
