It's great see the face of the person behind the camera.

I spent a lot of time this summer photographing The Great Northern Diver. The bird in the shot got so used to me that he didn't consider me a threat. Day by day I moved in a little bit closer and moved back if it showed any sign of stress. In the end I could go right up to it and the bird was perfectly calm. Most of the time I of course kept my distance. It’s an amazing feeling when you gain the trust of a wild animal like this.

Sindri, that is an amazing shot! You must be a bird whisperer along with Mitch!
Man this is great, seeing all you people!

). Anyway one winter, a group of us got to talking and two guys who lived up in Grayling, MI suggested we all come up and fish the fabled AuSable River. That June was birth of what became the Trout Bum Bar-B-Q and it grew from maybe a dozen of us from around the country (several from Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, Georgia, me from Pennsylvania, etc) to an annual event attracting more than 100 folks from around the country and, indeed, the world.
