Here are a few shots with the XTi and nifty 50 in a low light X-Mas setting.

I had some light from behind from a torch type lamp and some light from the front with dual-beam garage halogens with a sheet hanging in front. I rigged up the halogens/sheet after reading a post here about the technique after an unsuccessful prior night shooting at 1.8 in low light and having over half the photos out of focus and with glare from the xmas lights all over the place. The halogens allowed me to bump up the shutter speed just a bit.

This was my first attempt ever at manipulating the lighting. Please be brutally honest. There was no post processing on these. Thanks.

You need to adjust your white balance, the poses are cute.

Ditto^^

A touch more fill to create catch lights in 2 and 3 would be nice.

Sleeves and a higher neckline shirt or sweater would make the last more fitting for child portrait. ;)
