The best way to calibrate your notebook

It seems my notebook has limited screen functions. I can brighten the screen but it is not the same as on a CRT monitor. I have no contrast and brightness settings that I know of. The brightness on the notebook almost seems like a back light behind the screen that makes it easier to see. I tried adobe gamma through the control panel extension. That seemed to work best. The Wizard just didn't work proper on the notebook.
Are there any calibration utilities specially for notebooks?

I did mine, a Sony Vaio 16", with the Monaco Optix XR Pro and it is pretty good, but nothing like the job on my CRTs.

Optix programs the notebook graphic card's LUTs to do the job, but that's all most notebooks have for the software and puck to work with.

The other part is that you will also have to calibrate the angle at which you look at the display

On my notebook (IBM) I get totally different results if I just open or close the screen a bit more.

So an idea might be to compare it to your (calibrated) CRT and remember the angle and the distance to your eyes.
