The light looks very natural and she's an attractive model, too! Great work! tenoverthenose wrote in post #9904279 I love that first one Peter! Lightworks Imaging wrote in post #9904719 Peter - #1 Flat out rocks. thx guys! TMR Design wrote in post #9904307 Looks great Peter. I think the second shot would have benefited from pulling back a bit so the model doesn't look like she's breaking out of the frame. ![]() thx Rob, great suggestion I may resize it J Kacey wrote in post #9904741 Fantastic work Peter ! thx Jerry, 2nd shot was with your speedlight bracket Peter

phamster wrote in post #9897305 @ Wamguy.. thanks for the vote for Katelyn.. and a different Katelyn.. this time a senior photo.. ![]() TMR Design wrote in post #9899616 Nice shot but very unflattering for her legs. Most girls and women would want to avoid that angle and type of shot. My 2 cents. Robert, I gotta take you to task here. First, I acknowledge, as is obvious, your 2 cents is worth a lot more than most peoples'.

First, I acknowledge, as is obvious, your 2 cents is worth a lot more than most peoples'. In this particular instance, however, I disagree. This is not a thin girl. That's obvious from how high her hip is. Her legs show no cellulite, no obvious veins popping, rather just large. That is not in and of itself unflattering. My 2 cents is that it's a fine pic of a lovely lady who has a larger body than the thin models we're so used to seeing. And I do hear ya loud and clear about it being the photographer's responsibility to "make" the model look good, by perhaps hiding unflattering parts of their bodies behind things, etc. I've read that in every book I own on posing. mark I understand all that Mark and I didn't want to imply that it wasn't a great image or that the lovely lady doesn't look good. A simple adjustment of the leg would be more flattering and that's all I'm saying. I'm not judging her body type or in any way saying it's a bad photo. Robert

Just a quick setup shot, speedlight held off camera right. ![]() Pretty hard light and a bit too high Mark. You've got some very hard shadows and the classic raccoon eyes. In that type of situation without a modifier I would use the flash more as fill get a more even light, although flat, but it would eliminate the hard shadows and drama which usually isn't the best light for photographing children. Mar 31, 2010 10:34 | #4600 Thank you. Now that I take a "harder" look at it, you are completely correct. As usual. And I appreciate that. I had my friend's kid holding my flash, and while I was directing him, I guess I didn't do a very good job of that.

There's something a little eerie about it to me; perhaps it's the long lashes and makeup on a child, or the way her eyes aren't smiling (neither is her smile!). Not to judge, mind you, never a judger am I, but this gave me a start when I first saw it. the site
