It's a great image, Ryan, except the black line coming out of her head at the top is very distracting to me. :p

Good.

Well, since you put it that way... yeah it distracted me, too. Just like any line coming out of any head in any picture does.

You're like a little gnat that just won't go away.
Very naive.

C&C around here, at times, is interpreted as "heap praise on my photo, mortal!"

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

Ok come on people let's all calm down and let things go!! Jeeez!! ...dunno about anyone else, but bickering takes something away from this thread!...although some people will be loving this! :D

Critique is critique - we get good and bad. We take some, we leave some...lets all move on! :)

I think Matt suggested a group hug recently??

What's amusing is this guy will come in an try to critique photos (and does it a lot), and he just trolls this thread and the multiple strobe thread without posting any images.

Take a look at some of his posts; he hasn't posted an image in the last 5 pages of his posts. He just comes and trolls around - https://photography-on-the.net …p?searchid=20584527&pp=30

*Edit- I take that back he has one image in 5 pages. Clearly he is better at critiquing

Critique is just personal opinion, and has nothing to do with how many photo's you post!?! I personally critique on these forums far more than i post photo's.

I've stayed out of this until now....but I gotta say, it's you who looks like the bad guy right now. Sure his critique wasn't positive, but frankly....I find that to be the most helpful. If you want only praise, go post it on your mother's refrigerator. If you're going to post it here....realize that you may get some criticisms. Those are meant to help you improve that image, as well as not make a similar mistake in the future.

You now swiping at his skill-level because he found something that he didn't like in your photos? Lame. Sure, he may not be as experienced/talented as you may hope...but that doesn't mean he can't see a fault in someone elses picture.

If all you're doing is looking for praise, post elsewhere. This is a forum where people can and should be honest. I know I'd vastly prefer criticism/ways to improve than a bunch of ego stroking. One will help me get better at photography, the other will feel like a simulated pat on the back.

Where is the rule that says you have to love every image that is posted?

Where is the rule that says you have to post images in order to comment or critique others?

Are we now trying to qualify everyone that comments or posts?

Why are comments and nitpicks spun into some horrible insult rather than just seeing them for what they are.... opinion and preference, and yes, useful information to consider.

There are actually some people around here that know a lot more than others and perhaps the naive people are the ones that don't open themselves up to the possibility that they might just learn something.
