Guys and Gals.
Can I get some feedback on this shot please. Nothing fancy, my new AB800 and softbox came in today and I was messing around. The light was behind me about 5 foot, up 8 ft in the air and tilted down at a 45 degree angle. Since box.

I'll link it since its around 900K in size.

I've posted this before, and it's not overly creative, but it uses a single Sunpak 383 fired into a silver umbrella.

Just stumbled across this thread, great idea.

I usually use 3 but I caught this one accidentally. I had a 430EX sitting on the mantle triggered by an ST-E2 that acted as a back light and a main light. The back light was bounced off the wall behind me and reflected back on to the subject.

I love it...
Very moving...

Did you use a Bracket that has a Flash/umbrella adapter for this. Or a flash on a stand with a wired/wireless trigger.

I used a cheapo light stand at camera left with a Sunpak 383 shooting into a 48 inch silver umbrella, and eBay ghetto wireless transmitters (they suck). The camera was sitting on the floor, propped up by the box that the eBay triggers come in.

It's the same picture I am using as a profile....
She just won't stay still.... So, I had to run behind her with the Rebel and XT (a little out of focus)..... Sorry

:mad:Aarrgghhhh!! I am not sure why it's so big (36 kb)... I used iPhoto to fix this... Will use photoshop next time.... I am a newbie so no need to correct!

I am planning on getting the AB800 for portraits indoor. I have a lot to read. I want to open a photo studio. I get a lot of request from friends and family members. I don't have any lights so I just take snapshots until I get one...

A couple I've done with a single source. Either a 430ex or Vivitar 285

Here is one with my XTi. and Olympus T20 flash..(used Wein HS to HS voltage adapter because I don't know the trigger voltage of the T20)

I really like the T20 as a small external flash..GN 66 at ISO 100 in feet...2.5x more powerfull than the Pop-Up...No E-TTL ..So what.
INFO:
ISO 200, F/5.6 at 1/2 sec....Camera on Av and f/5.6 (by Flash dial)...let the XTi choose a SS.
Standard 1st curtain sync since this is a NON E-TTL unit..
I took about 12 shots with my son jumping on his bed until I was satisfied.

All three of these were taken with a single strobe:

This shot was a combination of one single key light high and to camera right, combined with strong ambient light coming from at window to the model's right.

HTTP response: NOT FOUND | MIME changed to 'image/gif'

This image was lit with a single light positioned high and behind the model. A mirror reflector was positioned just in front of the light to illuminate the background, and a white book-end reflector with a hole in it (for the camera) was directly in front of the model.

This shot was set-up and taken under very severe time constraints. Dasha, the model, only had 15 minutes remaining in the studio, and we were looking for a "Hollywood" or glamour image, so we shot her against a white background with a beauty bowl positioned high and to the camera's right, moving it to control the shadow.

arbib - no, but I'm sure she'd love being called a HS Senior ;)

She's a professional model who does a lot of work locally.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I don't do a lot of studio work, but enjoy it when I do.
