They need a new ad agency. The faked photo with the lens framing it looks just so obviously wrong!

LOL, thats great! What a stuff up! Took me a while to work out what I was looking for. I love how they added a lens to the end of the lens hood.

I will also add that Chuck Westfall, the Canon representive is the most USELESS, dumbwitted and unentertaining person I have ever seen running a company marketing campain.

He looks like a nice enough guy, but just cant hold anyones attention during interviews.

I mean, look at the amazing stuff he is promoting, he really doesnt seem too interested. Canon needs someone really energetic to market their gear who can convey their presence in the market.

<snicker>.....I don't know about the rest of you, but it sure seems that in the last year or so, Canon has been making some bone-headed business decisions lately. Does anyone know if there have been any management changes at Canon recently?

It's probably not totally Canon's fault, they most probably employed a marketing company to produce the advert who took it upon themselves to add the glass to the shots. However, Canon are at fault for not spotting the error.

Interesting.

Ok, who among you can honestly claim to have noticed the lens farce?

"Journalistic Integrity" in an ad. ??? Get real! You mean buying that Hyundai really will attract women! Smoking Marlboros will make me a rugged outdoorsman -- a real cowboy! The Jeep Liberty and Hummer H3s are as capable as the original Jeep and H1 on which their based! There are an infinite number of examples of what I'm saying out there.

I don't expect ads to accurately reflect reality. I learned that back in grade school. How many toys looked and worked as well in person as they did on TV? Marketing is to attract your attention. The target audience in Newsweek is not a group of professional photographers. The target audience won't know or care that the image was edited -- just like they won't know or care about the editing of virtually every other ad in the magazine. All they'll see is that Canon makes a product used by professionals, and maybe they'll remember that long enough to influence their decision when shopping for a camera.

bla bla bla much ado about nothing...I do not expect adverts to actually be "real". I mean I would get upset if it were faked news pictures (which there are plenty of) but I don't look for adverts to actually and fully represent the products pictured.
