i want to finally find out the answer about this framing issue.

so how the heck do you hang frames with this type of "holder" on the back? i know mpix.com frames have this style of hanging but i absolutely hate it because of the problem that you see in the photos below.

how the heck do i hang these framed pictures up? i have been having this problem for a while and i finally want to find out the solution.

I usually just use a nail. Little larger than the one in the pic. The hanger will sit right on the nail and then move left or right to level.

It will work a LOT better if you turn the pic in #1 right-side up?

I am confused here.. What is that gold thing? just stick a nail in the wall and hang it.

Don't use the gold thing. Just stick a nail in the wall and balance the hanger on it.

Forget that saw-toothed piece of hardware.

Go down to the hardware store and buy some eye screws and some picture wire.
Screw the eye screws into the sides of the frame about 1/3 down from the top.
Run two pieces of wire, identical length, between the screws.
Put two nails in the wall, level with each other.
When hung as shown, you can move the frame to get it level, and it will stay that way.

ok thanks for everyones replies. I was tried to avoid using a nail because I dont want to damage the walls since I live in a college dorm and you aren't supposed to put nails in the wall, etc. but it seems like a nail is my only option and thats what i will probably do.

curtis, thanks for the suggestion and for the attached picture. I will try that in the future on other wooden frames. with the picture I am trying to hang I can't do that because the frame isn't wood and i can't screw anything into the frame because its a hard metal frame.

If you are in a dorm, try some of those 3m command hooks. Maybe those would work?

They even have a special hook for saw tooth hangers
