Wow reading the 24-70 v.s. 24-105 threads are making me dizzy. I would just love to see a 24-105L 2.8 IS.
So whaddya think? Will there ever be one made?

But how large would it be? I suppose if they charged close to the price of the current 24-105 and the 24-70 combined it would keep them happy. Ken

Not in the near future but in a couple of years. As all technology develops the lenses are going to get smaller and lighter in the future so a light and small 24-105 IS is definitely possible Possible, I mean who ever thought an 18-55 kit lens would outperform an L in terms of sharpness figures (MTF) but its happened with the new IS version.

Else, Canon would kill a bunch of its lenses' market. If they could make such a lens they would probably market it at such a high price or at a time when a whole new range of lenses are released, possibly even at the time of the next mount change, im sure that will happen sometime in the future, forcing everyone to upgrade again, like in the FD mount.

But with current technology it would probably be twice as heavy as the brick, require at least an 82mm filter, and cost about $2750.
