I just order this flash to team up with my 580EX II .I use 580 EX II for fill flash and the Metz is for ceiling bounce .Also I order the bouncer for the Metz incase the ceiling was too high .

Is anyone use this flash ? : http://www.bhphotovideo.com …_1_Auto_Handle_Mount.html (external link)

I use one of the older metz 60's off camera, for what I use it for its well suited and powerful. I've read of some people using a 45/60 + hotshoe flash on camera, but haven't done it myself. Im sure someone with more info will be along though!

I once owned a 45CT1, but later traded up to 45CL3 and 45CL4 when I needed TTL flash control with my medium format SLR. Terrific units, more powerful than 580EX when the 580EX is zoomed to the same angle of coverage as the 45CT. Softboxes can be attached to the Metz 45 in much larger sizes than you can with the shoe-mount flash units.

I'm trying to decide between this unit and the Sunpak Pro 622.

How are you liking it? Are you using the flash with a softbox? Any info or opinion would help me a great deal. Thanks.

The Metz flash I just set it straight up to the ceiling for bounce ,and the 580 I just use SBM flash diffuser set it to manual 1/2 to fill .

I like the Metz more than the 580 EXII , I did some research and find out that the Quantum ( http://www.qtm.com …set=yes&res=1024&resh=768 (external link) ) battery pack can support the Metz flash , but it's cost about $500-$600 just battery and cable .

The Quantums aren't cheap, but then they also recycle the flash in under a second, and they last for years and years. Mine have about 15 years on them now, and for the price I paid for new units back then, it amounts to a little over a dollar per month (and they are not at the end of the life of the batteries, yet).
