I am most unhappy to report that this new body is worse(!!!!!!!!!) than the old one! Yellow dot, 570xxx serial. It's already packed, back in the box it came in, and is ready to go back. I already have a nasty-gram in to Canon...

I think I mentioned on another thread that it was difficult to discern the difference.

I'm learning and I'm not complaining!

Nor would I, would this be mine!

Don't feel too bad, :) I tried to post a 5D shot as a 1Ds example shot last week. I still love the image you got and that's what it's about!

That is right...I'm waiting on a call from Canon now, and I hope they will allow me to use the info from the last item I shipped to get this one off today, and still have another one tomorrow...

Well so far this is without a doubt the best piece of equipment I have owned. Now that doesn't mean much since I have only owned a xt, 40d, mark II and now the Mark III.

But the way it handles shadows, noise, action, etc... is quite amazing. I can't wait to shoot a baseball game tonight with it!

There is just no way that you can experience the quality of a Ds3 by viewing downsized web images.

We can play games until the cows come in for milking, it won't change anything.
In competent hands, it coughs the greatest images of all the dslr's on the planet.

True, but if they are cropped 100% and straight out of the camera, then comparisons can be made if shots are taken of the same subject at the same time.

SERIAL NUMBER RANGE RELEASED
CW Photo posted this link to Canon Australia's site which indicates the Serial numbers effected.

The page states;

Thanks for this info... I have just ordered a 1d MkIII and sent this to the dealer that the body I am getting will not be in this serial category.
Anyway will be getting it by today.
Peter

Use of the Mk 3 with a Tamron 2x Teleconvertor.

I happened to have a Tamron 2x TC which I had several years ago. I have from time to time used it with my 5D and 75-200 L lens without any error problem except that the aperture do not double (it reads 2.8 as 2.8 and not 5.6) Wonder if it is ok to use it with the mkIII.
