I understand from a gentleman that shoots for SI that the "will not allow" him to use his Mark III...

did he say why?

interesting...

(well to be truthful, I didn't know they listed settings for other cameras, but assuming from your statement that they do, it's)

interesting....

(that they do not) ;)

He did not say specifically why, but his observation on the Mark III is, and I quote, " The Mark III as it currently is sucks major ass. Mine have been in my closet since September 2. I do not have the time or energy to write you about it. The camera sucks."

Hopefully he can now come out of the closet.

While in Tampa Florida vacationing this past week, I received my Fed-Ex stuff here at home. I took about seven hundred pics in FL and upon return, way too many of them were soft. Tampa was over 80 degrees, I was on the water with lots of light (not on the water but overlooking it.) Totally unacceptable, as a buddy posted a ton of pics with his point and shoot that look so much sharper than mine even after PP. This thing better work, as I have seen conflicting reports on other Forums where threads have both praise and contempt for Canon's customer relations throughout this, as well as some serious questioning of IF this will ever be totally worked out. I have my fingers crossed.

Hope it works like a charm.

I wish companies would have an invoice for warranty work where no charges are incurred. Something like, Free Repair and Cleaning on Warranty. Whenever I first look at an invoice like one of these I get a small panic attack, like oh no, is there a charge, and then I search for the fine print, lol. Good luck.

Somewhat off-topic, but I see that Sports Illustrated doesn't have any recommended setting for either the 1Ds Mk III or 1D Mk III.

Unexpected!

Not.

that's weird because i am also in Florida right now and have spent the entire week shooting on the water (in the water in my case :) ) and so far, every image that is either soft or OOF is my fault or just the conditions fault.

how many aussies have had their mkIII fixed? mine went in today (from melbourne) and they are promising 24 hour turn around. i wonder what 24 hours actually means.

over 24 hours later now, no word yet.... i don't mind if they take a little longer if it means that it actually works though :)

I'm in Melbourne though and dropped it yesterday morning, so I guess one must account for travel time to Sydney - though that wasn't mentioned in the 24 hour turn around.

perhaps you needed more than the fix, some cameras needed a little more done which takes longer, are they fixing them in melbourne or all in sydney? i cant see them shipping everything to sydney to fix but who knows, given them a call? rick at cps is extremely helpful.
