Just in case anyone is interested, Newegg.com has the best price I've found on-line for the 14L II, which is $2009.99 (beats the B&H price). It's just too bad their currently out of stock and the ETA for the next batch isn't until 17 Dec. I've already got a good line of credit established with them so I'll hold off ordering until more come in.

That is a good deal. I think I am still going to wait until the drops under the $2k mark which hopefully wont be too long.

LM you set me upon this quest. It is all your fault!

I followed you into the 15mm fish, I found your post looking to move to a Sigma UWA prime which I also evaluated, then over to MDJACK's thread on the 14mm II, now here.

I think you're dropping UWA cyber-crumbs, and I'm just following along.

Now I'm just curious -- If they still had a Sigma 15-30 for Canon mount, would you have looked hard at that, too?

Roberts has been selling them for $1949 since they came out.

^^ If that is these guys, the lens is not appearing on their website; do they have it in the store?

Yeah, I was a big dummy and paid full price for the 50 1.2L when it first came out. However, the price of that lens has dropped a few hundred bucks since then. :(

I had interest in the Sigma 12-24mm, but decided that I'm just going to say damn it all to hell and get what I'm really lusting after. The 15 FE is a damn fine lens. I'm almost positive it'll end up in my bag again at some point.

^^ I'm going to try to hold on to the FE if possible; when it gets mounted, it forces creativity, and the results can be very cool!

The 1.6 crop gear is what's going to be sold to fund UWA, and no matter how hard I try not to, I walk right back into the 14 II vs. the Sigma, vs. 16-35L, with the 14 just jaw-dropping good.

Same here, with the 50mm f/1.2 and the 16-35 II...I always have a problem buying camera gear at retail since I know the second after I buy it it will come down in price.

That is a better deal than Newegg! However, I don't want to have to establish another line of credit just to get this lens. I'll just stick with Newegg.com. I won't mind having to pay the extra $69.

The new 14L II has definitely been well received so far. I was agonizing whether or not I should just get the 16-35L II + 15 FE again, or just bite the bullet and get the 14L II. Seems ridiculous to give up owning two great lenses for one that many consider overpriced, but then again I'm not the most economical gear buyer.

Yeah, I'm sure the price of the 14L II will probably come down a bit after the dust settles from the initial release and after the holiday season has passed. Just my luck. :(
